…l and mischievous sound
 of ancient gods and martyrs laughing
 in a paradise emptied of despair.
 
 We skipped rocks, embedding them
 on the opposite bank, pretending 
 the stones were thudding into the forehead
 of a Goliath shaped like our father.
 
 We whooped and hollered, never tiring 
 of the repeated slaughter and victory
 over our fiercest…
