I've seen this film too. It was weird. I understood how you could stop liking someone but to stop talking to them suddenly when you live on a small island was strange. The cutting off his fingers manner was even stranger. I thought he was suffering from a mental illness . Why would anyone do such a thing? Of course, I did enjoy the film except for this part.
