Thank you for your response. They did not offer me a local anesthetic on the day I arrived. I did see the nurse before hand and I told her that I was concerned that in the leaflet that I received with my appointment letter it said take 2 paracetamols an hour before a hysteroscopy. I told her and the consultant that I had been to sleep for this procedure 7 years previously but they basically just ignored me. So, I gave my consent by signing a form and the consultant said if it was too painful I could ask them to stop which I did by screaming at them to stop as it was horrendously painful. The consultant appeared annoyed after and said I would have to wait weeks if I wanted a general anesethic now but I didn't have to wait that long (3 weeks I think I waited) so not sure why the consultant said that. I believe it all comes down to money I'm afraid!!
